We've decided to merge our top ideas — a box zine set, a scavenger hunt, a how-to manual, and a clock — into a three-part zine set, each multi-authored, that (1) examines various approaches to search; (2) promotes urban exploration and (3) includes a temporal dimension.

Here's our project planning folder! And we can share precedents and inspiration on this Arena channel (which will also be accessible to our designer).

Our Goals for the Publication:

• To allow participants to reflect on their learning experience, to reflect the complementary expertise and talents of our particular group, and to demonstrate the breadth of methods and modalities in which search and discovery can – or could – take place 
• To demonstrate for a range of stakeholders – member libraries, their leaders and staff; other aligned institutions; artists and designers; learners in other NYC “schools”; city officials who make decisions affecting libraries and archives; potential funders – the values of this program, including possibilities for cross-institutional cross-pollination, interdisciplinary thinking, camaraderie, and mutual aid
• To highlight the wealth of cultural resources and community intelligences in our city; and to demonstrate the benefits of – and potential for — well-resourced civic knowledge networks 

I've created shared Google Drive folders where we can upload documentation from our site visits and activities. All participants should have access through the email address with which they registered for the class! Please label files with your last name so we can offer appropriate credit if we use your images in our collaborative project!

We will of course obtain consent — both from the photographer and from those depicted — before sharing any of these materials publicly.

Here's our spreadsheet of participants, and here's the détourned class directory/dictionary/almanac we created together on March 4. These documents are accessible only to class participants.

We engaged in an exercise of oulipian exploration and aleatory (chance-based) composition, and — with help from Caiti and Xinan — created a zine!

We shared our own individual discovery "rabbit holes," and collated our explorations into a booklet.
